Our Mission

Genesis Housing Corporation is dedicated to the development of affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization and the education of consumers on housing and financial issues.

Since 1994, Genesis Housing Corporation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has served Montgomery County as a community housing development organization (CHDO). Our general activities include the rehabilitation and new construction of homes to improve and stabilize neighborhoods and to provide opportunities for lower income homebuyers to purchase homes at affordable prices. Genesis Housing Corporation also provides housing counseling and money management services.

Our History

Since 1994, Genesis Housing Corporation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, has served Montgomery County as a community housing development organization (CHDO) and is dedicated to the development of affordable housing, neighborhood revitalization and to the education of consumers on housing and financial issues.

Genesis Housing Corporation provides housing counseling and money management services. Our general activities also include the rehabilitation and new construction of homes to improve and stabilize neighborhoods and to provide high quality affordable housing. The programs implemented by Genesis Housing Corporation include:

1) The Housing Counseling Program provides free classes and individual counseling helping over 10,000 clients. Monthly classes focus on topics not taught in regular school including understanding credit, credit repair, money management, saving plans, grant programs and understanding the home buying process including selecting a realtor and finding the best mortgage. Individual counseling sessions focus on client driven issues from budgeting basics, managing credit, credit repair, debt management and home buying. Individual counseling can also include budgeting for a reduced or fixed income and how to prevent foreclosures.

Genesis Housing is an approved housing counseling agency for the PA Housing Finance Agency (PHFA) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Genesis Housing is an approved agency with the National Industry Standards for Homeownership Education and Counseling. Genesis Housing Corporation is also an approved agency for Montgomery County’s and Norristown’s First-Time Home Buyers Programs.

2) Genesis Housing has rehabbed or constructed over 450 units to provide safe and decent housing for lower income households. Genesis Housing Corporation recently completed the Beech Street Factory in Pottstown rehabbing a vacant building for 43 affordable apartments and the new home of Art Fusion with our development partner, Housing Visions. In 2016, Genesis Housing Corporation completed Reliance Crossing Apartments which built 56 affordable apartments in Souderton, PA with our development partner Ingerman.

Our other projects include vacant single family properties that we acquire, rehab and sell / rent to income eligible households as part of an overall neighborhood revitalization strategy. Genesis Housing helps organize community events like the National Night Out in Pottstown and the Montgomery County Housing Fair. Genesis Housing Corporation also rehabs individual homes for low income families for the Montgomery County Homeowner Rehab Program.

Genesis Housing Corporation has been actively involved in providing affordable homes in Montgomery County, PA targeting the older distressed towns, especially Norristown and Pottstown, to stabilize housing values, promote home ownership and provide safe and decent housing for lower income families.

Executive Director

Judith has worked for Genesis Housing Corporation since 1995 and has over 30 years’ experience with project planning and development including seven years as Director of Planning for the Borough of Norristown.
